Peter Bosz feels sorry for Vertessen but enjoys Lozano’s return

With a large selection, a trainer has to make many choices. Not everyone can play and that causes disappointment. Peter Bosz has a luxury problem at PSV, especially on the wings. It is not made easy for the trainer of the Eindhoven team and that became clear on Saturday evening, in the 4-0 home match against NEC Nijmegen.

The crowd chanted his name loudly and couldn’t wait for his appearance. After Noa Lang was injured, Bosz had no choice but to bring in Hirving Lozano as his replacement. Yet the trainer actually thought that someone else deserved it more than the Mexican.

“Yorbe Vertessen actually deserved more to come on. He always fits in well. What else does that boy have to do to come in? These are difficult moments as a trainer,” Bosz said after the match.

“He earned such a reception with his two great seasons in the past.”

To the delight of the crowd, the trainer chose Lozano. “’Chucky needs to grow in the team. That’s why I chose him at this time. He earned such a reception with his two great seasons in the past.”

The PSV fans not only reacted with delight to Lozano’s return, they enjoyed the team performance. “I didn’t like the first part and the last part a bit, but in between it was very good. NEC is certainly not a bad team, so we did a good job ourselves.”

“I saw us make mistakes that we absolutely should not make on Wednesday.”

A blemish on the evening was Lang’s cancellation. It is still unclear how serious his injury is. Hopefully it won’t be too bad for PSV, because the first Champions League match against Arsenal awaits on Wednesday. Then, according to Bosz, things have to be even better.

“I saw us make mistakes that we absolutely should not make on Wednesday. If that does happen, they will be punished immediately. But against Arsenal we will also play slightly differently, then some mistakes will no longer be made.”
