When asked what was the best thing about that attack, the PSV coach replied: “The whole attack itself. That you build from backwards. We were lucky with Jerdy (Schouten, ed.), who was unable to get the ball under control but was able to pass it back to Yarek (Gasiorowski, ed.), who played the ball behind Sergiño (Dest, ed.). It started off a bit difficult. But if you then see that you – seemingly very simple – pass balls over five to ten meters, play in and move on and then score, then it really is a nice attack.”
Yarek Gasiorowski (20) sensation in Eindhoven: ‘Coming to PSV has been the best decision of my life’
Bosz was not completely satisfied after the unthreatened victory. “I was very critical. Also at rest. And after the match also against the boys. That does me a bit of a disservice. SC Heerenveen is a difficult away match. I have even read that it is a Angstgegner, and then you actually win quite easily. You have to do a lot for it, because it is a difficult opponent. But we make it two and have had so many opportunities to give that last ball. We actually should have done even better.”
PSV coach Peter Bosz: ‘You can see why we are far from being champions’
The PSV coach saw that his team was less consistent than in previous matches this season and alternated good phases with bad phases. “We started very badly. We did poorly in the first twenty minutes. Then we took the initiative because we improved in possession of the ball. The start of the second half was good, but we ended badly again. You might say that you can see why we are at the top, but also why we are far from being champions.”
The lack of a third goal bothered Bosz. “Because it gives you so much air. Because if it becomes 1-2, and that can always happen due to a corner that suddenly comes in, then there is suddenly panic again. And of course they had a few options.”
Joey Veerman also puts PSV on course to win against SC Heerenveen
Joey Veerman was important for PSV again in Heerenveen by scoring the opening goal against FC Volendam, just like last week. “What I thought was very clever this time was that he scored even though he wasn’t in the game at all. He was one of the guys who started poorly. He lost the ball a number of times. If it is Pietje, Klaasje or Jantje, I say ‘that is possible’, but he is not. He is so good at stabbing someone away and putting them in front of the goalkeeper and he was one of the players who caused unrest at the start. But we won the ball with high pressure and he shot it in very well.”
