A dryer in the attic of a house on Avonduur in Helvoirt caught fire on Saturday evening. The fire started around a quarter to eleven, when the resident wanted to dry some laundry late in the evening.
Thanks to the quick response of the resident and the actions of the emergency services, the damage in the house was limited to smoke damage. There were no injuries.
Fire at the Avonduurt in Helvoirt
The resident discovered the fire around a quarter to eleven and immediately called the fire brigade. They arrived at the scene with a fire extinguisher and a water truck. The police also sent two units to the street.
Firefighters took the burning dryer outside and extinguished it there. The incident attracted a lot of attention from local residents. After ventilating the house, the emergency services were able to leave again.
