The leaders of the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will meet on January 10 via videoconference. About it TASS said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“Yes. We are getting ready on Monday, ”the representative of the head of state replied to the question about the possibility of holding the summit on January 10.
Russian President Vladimir Putin a day earlier – January 8 – spent telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, he now holds the post of CSTO chairman. The Kremlin press service reported that the initiative to hold an online meeting of the CSTO Security Council in the “very near future” was made by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. Pashinyan assured Putin that Yerevan would organize a video conference.

In Kazakhstan, protests have continued since January 2, which escalated into riots and clashes with law enforcement officials. According to official data, 16 security officials and at least 26 protesters were killed, 5.8 thousand people were detained. “The power structures are continuing to cleanse the settlements,” the press service of the President of Kazakhstan said.
