Perspective player for Werder Bremen: Ethan Kohler comes from Oakland

Should be developed further as a 6er

Werder Bremen have piloted 18-year-old Ethan Kohler from the USA to Germany. The defensively variable talent from Oakland Roots should initially play for the U19 and U23 on the Weser. According to official Clemens Fritz, the Green-Whites already have in mind what role he could play with the SVW professionals in the future.

“Ethan is a very ambitious player with a good overview and a good understanding of the game,” said Fritz. “He is well trained in football and can play both as a central defender and as a midfielder. We see him primarily in the sixth position and want to develop him further with us.” In the coming season, Kohler should also train with the pros. The Californian is to play the upcoming friendlies with the U23s.

“It is obviously a huge step for me to move from America to Europe. But Werder is a big club in Germany and I’m really looking forward to the challenge in Bremen,” explained Kohler, who had already spent several weeks in the Hanseatic city as a rehearsal and recommended himself there.
