People’s commenting in public is not a fundamental right, writes Anni Saarela.
Kalle Palander was fired from YLE for his comments. Sami Kuusivirta
Drilling.
That word came to my mind when I heard Kalle Palander from the comments Gämblers Cast in the podcast. At first I thought it would be “just” one half -wool throw, but the truth was much worse.
Commenting on the appearance of female athletes, sub -style speech, sex fantasy, “jokes” speeches about starting a family… Palander’s messages cannot be accepted or understood.
I don’t want to hear such speech in public, in the workplace, in cups. Anywhere. It is disgusting, even if it is “just a joke”. Now it’s really enough.
For too long, speeches that criticize rush and women are justified by the same rhetoric. That it would be a boys’ locker room that should last. If you can’t stand it, you do not understand it or is a sense of humor.
Even my own attitude “Only a small throw” said that the comments have been used to.
The jokes come from something and tell about their words. Sometimes it can go over, but a set like Palander can’t be looked through through your fingers. Nor has the world champion regretted his statements.
There was an uproar about Palander’s sayings. Matti Matikainen
Aleksi Valavuori was injured in Microblog Service X for Palander and criticizing YLE’s decision to give the world champion fired his expert role. According to Valavuori, “no one was really hurt.”
It would be interesting to know who Valavuori asked about this injury. There are defenders in social media, but so are there a lot of critical comments.
Why do some rise to their hind legs when the decline in speech is addressed? It is not a fundamental right that other people can be commented on in public. The buzz would have been born if the female expert had done the same.
It wouldn’t be okay either that the appearance of male athletes would be shown. The Gämblers Cast would have been able to analyze the best female athletes and not to say sub -style comments.
Talking about women with respect still seems to be difficult for many. If someone feels the need to defend such, you can take one question to help. Would you like your friend, mother, spouse or daughter to talk in the same way in public?
Palander was excellent as YLE’s Alpine Skiing Specialist. It is a pity for TV broadcasts that Nina Vanhatalo and Palander will no longer hear cooperation.
However, it has been said, even though it did not happen in the broadcast of YLE. Palander is an experienced performer who shot his comment in a recorded situation.
Over the years, female athletes have been laughed at and their body has been described as what show items. Fortunately, it has finally come to the time when someone draws a border and says four heavy words:
This is not ok.
