“Residual hope” at Vogt
TSG Hoffenheim will have to do without captain Benjamin Hübner in the away game at 1. FC Köln. The 32-year-old defender was infected with the corona virus, as the Kraichgauer announced on Friday evening. Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß had previously reported that Hübner was ill and had mild cold symptoms. Hübner’s neighbor Kevin Vogt, who was recently absent due to a thigh injury, has a “remaining hope” that he will return to the team on Sunday (5:30 p.m. / DAZN). A starting XI is likely to come too soon for the 30-year-old.
The personal situation on the defensive remains tense. Because Havard Nordtveit and Sebastian Rudy are missing with torn muscles. 1899 will also be without Chris Richards, who has yet to return to the pitch after suffering a foot injury in an international match with the USA. Most recently, Hoffenheim had acted with a three-man chain consisting of Stefan Posch, Florian Grillitsch and Hübner.
It is unclear whether Dennis Geiger is back in the squad. The midfielder was dazed in the win against VfB Stuttgart and was substituted with a suspected head injury. “He’s fine, he has no more abnormalities. He will start training again on Friday, but we have to wait and see,” said Hoeneß.
Get well soon, Captain!
Benjamin #Huebner has tested positive for the coronavirus. The defender is in quarantine at home. Because of mild cold symptoms, a Covid test was carried out on the 32-year-old, which unfortunately gave a positive result.
