At the NK all-round, Jordy van Workum rode a strong ride on the 1,500 meters. The 22-year-old skater from Hoorn raced to a personal best of 1 minute, 45 seconds and 37 hundredths. This makes him half a second faster than his previous pr of 1.45.87.
Patrick Roest set a very strong time of 1:44.05, which was an impossible task for Van Workum in advance. In a mutual duel with Marcel Bosker, the Horinees fought for second place. To pass him in the standings, Van Workum also had to make up four tenths on Bosker.
Van Workum started quickly in Thialf (Heerenveen). In this way he built up enough lead to keep Bosker behind him. After 1,500 meters a personal best of 1.45.37 was on the clock. As a result, he climbed to second place in the overall standings.
In theory, Van Workum could still compete for the all-round title on the final ten kilometers. Then he has to make up 45.22 seconds on Roest.
