Person knocked overboard on the IJsselmeer, search has now been discontinued

Someone was thrown overboard between Enkhuizen and Andijk this afternoon. Emergency services were looking for the missing person with various lifeboats, a coastguard aircraft and a helicopter, but the search was stopped after an hour and a half.

The call came in to emergency services around 2:30 p.m. According to a spokesperson for the rescue team, someone is overboard struck by the boom colliding with the person on board.

“This person was immediately under water,” the spokesman told NH. “A second person jumped after it, but was unable to get the drowning man out of the water.” The person who jumped after the drowning man was taken out of the water by the emergency services.

The search for the missing drowning man was discontinued at 4 p.m.
