The coach of Iranian soccer runners-up Persepolis FC is threatened with trouble for his comments on the ongoing protests in his country.
Yahya Golmohammadi is one of eight celebrities who have been interrogated according to the judiciary. Golmohammadi is accused of “publishing undocumented or objectionable content”.
Golmohammadi recently criticized players from the Iranian national team for not bringing the “voice of the oppressed to the ears of the authorities”. With his request, he reacted to a meeting of the national team with President Ebrahim Raisi before leaving for Qatar, where Iran will start the World Cup against England (2:00 p.m. CET/ZDF and MagentaTV) on Monday.
Golmohammadi’s Instagram account was down on Sunday. According to judicial information, the popular actresses Mitra Hajjar and Baran Kosari were also interrogated.
