The suspects who were arrested on Saturday evening after they attempted to commit a robbery at the De Buurman cafeteria and eatery on the Oudedijk in Odiliapeel are 15 and 17 years old and live in the municipality of Land van Cuijk. The police announced this on Sunday afternoon.
The robbery took place around half past seven in the evening. At that moment the manager and some customers were present in the snack bar. The robbers entered, threatened with a stabbing weapon and tried to take the day’s proceeds.
Intervene
A motorist noticed as he passed by that something was wrong in the snack bar. The man from Odiliapeel decided to stop and see what exactly was going on. When he realized that a robbery was taking place and he saw the suspects fleeing, the man decided to intervene. He used his car to trap the scooter on which the two robbers were trying to escape.
The robbers then fled on foot and were apprehended by officers shortly afterwards.

A third suspect was also arrested, but it turned out that he did not play a role in the robbery. He has now been released.
