There are images of the man who, according to the police, caused an explosion at shisha lounge Simit Plaza in Tilburg at the end of last year. The explosion caused a lot of damage. The suspect’s movements were recorded by several cameras. They were shown on Tuesday evening in the TV program Opsporing Requested.
No one was injured in the attack. Later in the day, the owner of the business, Yalcin Aslan, said he was devastated. The man added that despite the setback, he wants to reopen as soon as possible. His case was closed for a while by order of mayor Theo Weterings.
Police ‘support’ Aslan
The police put a heart to him in Opsporing Requested. According to a spokesperson, it seems that Aslan had no part in the explosion: “There are no indications that he played a role in this.” The man may have been the victim of a conflict involving other parties, the spokesman said.
Back to two o’clock in the night of December 26 to 27, 2022, to the Heuvel in Tilburg. According to the police, there were quite a few people on the street at the time. Someone, she thinks, must have seen the man who walked leisurely across Piusplein to the shisha lounge and then returned by the same route.
When detonating the explosive (which is somewhat audible on the footage) he probably used detonator wire. The images show that after the explosion he walked back to the site of the attack and then returned with that wire. Then he ran off quickly.
Request help from witnesses
The police hope that witnesses will report after the broadcast. Or because they saw the suspect that night or because they recognize him from the images shown in the AVROTROS programme. The police also want to know what led to the attack. She has a suspicion, but the spokesperson did not want to say anything about this yet.
