Perpetrator of attack in New York that also killed Belgian Ann-Laure (31) gets life sentence

The terrorist who killed eight people with his vehicle on a bike path in Manhattan, New York, in 2017 has escaped the death penalty. The jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on how to punish 35-year-old Sayfullo Saipov. The radical Islamist Uzbek was previously found guilty and will now receive a life sentence.
