Permanent residents must leave Hart van Drenthe, landlords addressed

The municipality of Midden-Drenthe has started sending letters to owners of holiday homes at the Hart van Drenthe holiday park in Zwiggelte. In that letter they say they want to end permanent occupation of holiday homes and that the municipality will enforce this.

Currently, the municipality is already writing to tenants of holiday homes, who have registered with the basic registration of the municipality, to look for another permanent accommodation. If those residents then leave, new residents are currently coming back. The municipality sees that they can then start again from the beginning.

By addressing the landlords, the municipality hopes to end all permanent residence at Hart van Drenthe for good in one fell swoop. However, the municipality says that no one will just end up on the street. If owners of holiday homes ignore the letter from the municipality, they can be fined. Going to court is also not ruled out.

The municipality also states in the letter that they will not only deal with tenants who are registered with the basic administration of the municipality, but they will also deal with tenants who they think they know for sure that they permanently occupy the holiday home.

According to alderman Rico Schans (Municipal Interests), the municipality and the Association of Owners (VvE) agree that the future of Hart van Drenthe lies in the recreation sector, where there is no room for permanent residence.

“We have now been working on enforcement for a number of years, which is going in good harmony, but we are noticing an influx of people who want to live permanently. We think it would be good to write to owners and make them legally responsible to put an end to this. make,” explains Schans.

The alderman can imagine that the homeowners are shocked by this news. If people ignore the contents of the letter, a so-called enforcement process will take effect, Schans announces. “We give people time to find another home. If it can be shown that they are doing their very best, then we are quite lenient,” the municipal manager promises. “But this has got to stop.”

Schans also discussed the situation of holiday park De Hullen in Drijber, where discussions are underway to make permanent residence possible. A large part of the residents already do this, but it is precisely that that is illegal. “We hope to reach agreements after the summer. Quite a bit of water still has to go through the Oude Diep, but it is going steadily.”
