Three board members of Hesselen Cultureel said goodbye this afternoon. Jantje Eising and Suzan Hidding were both active on the board for 18 years, Harm Jan Lesschen was the ‘figurehead’ because of the presidency he held for 40 years. He was also a co-founder of the association.
Hesselen Cultural was set up in 1983, when the church of Oosterhesselen had just been restored and given new life. From the beginning, the association organized cultural activities in the church building. For example, concerts, performances and exhibitions have been organized in its existence. Harm Jan Lesschen was there from the start as chairman.
A performance is still organized every month on Sunday afternoon in the church. In addition, once every two years there is an exhibition on a random theme and a band performs twice a year on Saturday evening.
