This lovely shortbread is made from only a few ingredients.
Self-made cracker bread is suitable for serving during the Christmas season as well as for the holidays themselves. Serve cocktail pieces made of shortbread as a Christmas snack and top with, for example, smoked reindeer or smoked fish filling.
Näkkäri is also suitable for the actual Christmas table to be served in conjunction with the fish table. And don’t forget the New Year either, because the cheese table always needs something crunchy to accompany it. Crackers, cheeses and fruits crown the celebration of the last day of the year.
Christmas cracker
4 dl rye flour
1.5 dl of cold water
0.5 tsp of salt
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon of rosemary
1. Chop the rosemary with a knife.
2. Add all the ingredients to the bowl and knead the dough by hand until smooth.
3. Divide the dough into three parts.
4. Roll out each part on a separate tray on baking paper into 1–2 millimeter thick discs. Use rye flour for rolling.
5. Bake one tray at a time at 225 degrees for about eight minutes.
6. Let the shortbread cool down. Crunching occurs only when it cools down.
7. Serve, for example, as part of a cheese platter.
