Perfect Corp. expands into fashion with new watch fitting via augmented reality

The New York-based provider of artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) solutions in the field of beauty and fashion, Perfect Corp., has expanded its technical capabilities and now offers a virtual fitting of watches, with which the company is expanding into the Fashion division continues and responds to a growing demand for these solutions in the luxury accessories market.

The new virtual AR watch fitting is based on the company’s latest, soon-to-be-patented AgileHand technology. This enables an immediate virtual try-on without the need for physical objects to calibrate the camera.

AgileHand technology offers 360-degree try-ons

The technology is able to enable a full virtual 360-degree try-on of a watch, which is available on the Metaverse. This means that it can determine the size of the wrist and allows customers to look at the dial, bracelet and clasp of the watch.

“The models encompass a wide range of skin tones and textures, as well as hand and finger sizes, covering a variety of personal distinguishing features and characteristics of a hand, to create a truly universal solution that works for everyone,” explains Perfect Corp. in a press release.

The technology, which is based on state-of-the-art AI algorithms, is also calibrated on PBR 3D hand models (Physically Based Rendering) to map a wide range of gestures and enable powerful hand tracking.

The improved ambient lighting mimics the actual lighting in the vicinity of the customers and thus contributes to the realism of the virtual try-on. This further development ensures that the reflections on the skin and the AR products change and adapt to the natural hand movements.

Technology takes gestures, skin tones, and lighting into account

The virtual try-on by AR Watch from Perfect Corp. is intended to recreate a luxurious shopping experience in digital space that enables a highly personalized experience with integrated omnichannel functions. This can be integrated with consumers at all points of contact – e.g. websites, e-commerce platforms, smart mirrors in shops and social media.

“We are excited to expand our offering for the luxury watch industry with the introduction of the AR Watch Virtual Try-On and the debut of our own AgileHand technology,” said Alice Chang, Founder and CEO of Perfect Corp.

“Our AI and AR-based solutions serve both brands and consumers: inside, by delivering engaging and immersive shopping experiences that increase consumer confidence and satisfaction.

We’re excited to bring an innovative hand-mapping technology to market that will make our solutions available to an even wider range of regular customers and help consumers buy watches, ”added Chang.
