What had to be an institutional act to celebrate the fifth anniversary of 1-O has ended up becoming, as this newspaper advanced, a mere institutional message from the ‘president’ Pere Aragonès, given the runaway government crisis what is happening these days. In his message, Aragonès has defended his strategy to face the political conflict with the State, based on self-determination and amnesty and, even more, the prioritization of the fight against repression, yes, without forgetting the horizon of a referendum.

“Prison, exile, fines and disqualifications… The personal cost for many people behind 1-O is very high,” Aragonès said this Saturday, which is why he called for “everything possible to put an end to all forms of repression Because if we want to win (we will win) we can’t leave anyone behind”he detailed.

Regarding the exercise of the right to self-determination, the ‘president’ advocated “uniting ourselves through the broad consensus that arises in Catalonia” that the conflict be resolved at the polls and for this reason, he added, “I propose an agreement of clarity to determine when and how Catalonia has to vote”, in the line that he already exposed this Tuesday, in the context of the general policy debate, in Parliament.
