Pep Guardiola pelted with coins by Liverpool fans: ‘All wrong, better next year’ | Foreign football

Pep Guardiola was pelted with coins on Sunday during Manchester City’s away game against Liverpool (1-0). It happened after Phil Foden’s disallowed goal. Jurgen Klopp apologized for the behavior of the Liverpool fans.

In a pretty heated squatter, Foden thought he could make the 0-1 eight minutes after the break. In the end, the VAR found a violation by Erling Haaland, after which the revelry at Guardiola and associates was rudely disrupted. What did the Spaniard think of that disallowed goal? ,,This is Anfield,’ he replied. What did he mean by that? ,,This is Anfield. I’ve only heard from the referee ‘play on, play on’, but not in this situation.”

He was less concerned about the fact that he had had coins thrown at him. ,,All those coins… They tried, but all wrong. Better luck next time. They will probably try again next year,” said Guardiola, who did receive an apology from colleague Jürgen Klopp. “Oh, that’s terrible. I’m sorry and I apologize for it. I had no idea this happened, but this should never happen,” said the German Liverpool manager.

Liverpool also made a statement: ,,We are aware of the fact that objects have been thrown towards the area for the technical staff. That is totally unacceptable and not the standard of behavior we want to see at Anfield. This incident will be investigated and the perpetrators will be punished, including a lifelong stadium ban.”

However, it was not the only statement from The Reds. There would also have been hurtful chants from the box with Manchester City fans regarding the Hillsborough disaster in which 96 Liverpool fans were killed. “In addition, the section has been daubed with graffiti texts, which have the same meaning as the singing. We know how much of an impact this has on the families of the victims and survivors of the disaster. We will work with authorities and Manchester City to ban these songs from stadiums,” the Liverpool statement said.
