People with little money should no longer pay admission to Berlin’s indoor swimming pools. This was announced by the Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) on Tuesday after the Senate meeting.

Free access to the indoor pools of the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe should be possible from February 15, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays all day during opening hours.

“This will benefit 650,000 people in Berlin who have very, very little money,” said Giffey.

According to the Senate Chancellery, a proof of entitlement or the so-called berlinpass-BuT in combination with proof of identification is required for free entry. This can be the ID card and for children and young people, for example, the student ID card.

Free admission is initially limited to the end of the year.
