Vice President of Government, Jordi Puignero, has described as “serious and unfortunate” the situation generated this Friday by a breakdown in the Adif telecommunications system, that has caused the stoppage of Rodalies, regional and long-distance trains in Catalonia. In an interview on ‘El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio’ he regretted that it was just another episode, assuring that “it cannot continue like this”. “People want Rodalies to work, not for it to be free,” he stressed.
As for the solution, Puigneró has pointed out that it goes through the transfer of the service to the Generalitat: “that can only be fixed by taking an alternative transport called independence”.
Puigneró has affirmed that from the first hour of the morning they have been in contact with the technicians to offer them help, but he has also added that he will transfer the Condition that “it can’t go on like this”. “The excuses are over. no other argument is useful to us, we have to sit down and negotiate the transfer”, he assured.
“Quality Trains”
The vice president also recalled that incidents can occur in other services such as the subway or railways, but that in no case does a similar “disaster” occur.
Therefore, he has asked “quality trains” that guarantee people who can reach the sites, from a “proximity management”. “We can do what we can because we don’t have the competencies about infrastructure, nothing we can say will make people stop being angry,” he concluded.

The Minister of Transport, Rachel Sanchez, has admitted the seriousness of the situation: “The incidence is extraordinary, it had never happened to us”. “The normalization of the train service in Catalonia will still take a few hours”, he admitted. The minister has avoided at least one of the similar incidents registered in Catalonia. It happened in May 2015.
Sánchez has also responded to Puigneró’s accusations: “You cannot blame someone who is not responsible, it is a problem with Adif’s infrastructure, it has nothing to do with Renfe and Rodalies.”
