Status: 06.03.2023 00:01

Hansa Rostock is slipping further and further into the relegation battle in the 2nd Bundesliga. The 0-2 defeat in the home game against Karlsruher SC was the third defeat in a row for the North Germans. As tables-14. the distance to the relegation place is still three points. After their fourth win in a row, KSC moves up to ninth place with 31 points.

In the 16th minute, Marvin Wanitzek gave KSC a 1-0 lead with a penalty. Hansa keeper Markus Kolke jumped into the right corner, but couldn’t reach Wanitzek’s well-placed shot. Previously, after a long ball from his own half, Mikkel Kaufmann had been brought down by Rostock defender Damian Roßbach.

Third KSC hit is withdrawn

When they conceded the second goal (25th), Roßbach was unlucky. KSC combined in Rostock’s penalty area, Paul Nebel maneuvered the ball from eleven meters in the direction of the goal and Roßbach deflected the ball into his own goal when trying to clear. Hansa’s goalkeeper Kolke prevented a higher deficit with strong saves before the break.

In the 61st minute, the ball landed in the Rostock goal again. Kaufmann scored after a counterattack to make it 3-0 – but the goal didn’t count. Because a KSC attacker was just offside during the previous play, the referee took the goal back after the video check.
