According to information from the “Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung”, the driver is Diadié Samassékou, Bundesliga professional at TSG Hoffenheim.

Sammassékou is presumed innocent until found guilty

The driver of a car is said to have been slightly injured in the accident, according to the press release from the public prosecutor’s office. Samassékou is now accused of not being able to stop in time behind a row of vehicles in front of him due to traffic conditions (…) due to inattentiveness, insufficient safety distance or excessive speed (…)”, according to the wording of the message. The public prosecutor’s office did not mention Samassékou’s name.

However, the “driver of the Lamborghini” did not “overtake illegally and recklessly and thereby endanger the life or limb of another person or other people’s property of significant value,” it said. The District Court of Heidelberg now has to decide whether to issue the penalty order that has been applied for. The accused is presumed innocent until a final guilty verdict.

Neither TSG Hoffenheim nor Samassékou have commented on the incident so far. According to statements by Samassékou’s landlord, Fatos Rukqi, to the “Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung”, the accident is said to have happened differently than the police described at the time. According to this, the football professional is said to have pulled to the left on the road to avoid a rear-end collision. The driver’s license that Sammassékou had to give up after the accident has now been returned to him.
