Last December 8more than a month ago, the Portuguese authorities notified the European Maritime Safety Agency and Spain that the cargo ship Toconao had lost six containers in Portuguese waters. Since that date, there has been a series of communications and non-communications, actions and inactions, which it is inevitable to conclude have been politically contaminated by a circumstance that has little to do with maritime safety or environmental protection: the fact that on December 21, the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, announced the call for elections to the Galician Parliament for February 18.
