Pellegrini: ‘Against violence against women: together we can make a difference to change’

I have a fixed thought these days, which is particularly close to my heart: together we can make a difference. Every gesture, every initiative, every word can contribute to creating a better and safer future for all women.

Let’s start, for example, by developing a feeling of gratitude for those who work every day to guarantee a more just world free from violence. A couple of years ago I came into contact with the association “DiRe – Women on the Net against violence” and they are tireless in letting women who experience situations of mistreatment or violence know that they are not alone and that they can turn to to an anti-violence center.

Can a commitment to spreading the need for a radical cultural change to counter this hateful phenomenon be enough? Certainly not, but between saying and doing there is always the perseverance with which we act. And to join us in commemorating this day, we have organized a charity auction that started yesterday and will continue until December 9th on the CharityStars website. Some objects that refer to my sporting career and limited edition prints will be auctioned, created by the illustrator Pennika and signed by me.

It is a way to raise funds that will be entirely donated to DiRe, within the broader framework of the social commitment of “Women in Coffee” supported by Carolina Vergnano. Thanks to all those who work every day to improve the world, make it fairer. And free from violence.
