Pelikaan S does not lose again at home: ‘Both teams had the feeling that more could have been achieved’

Pelikaan S once again achieved a result in a home match. After a big away defeat last week, Robbie Wentink’s men recovered and drew 1-1 against Quick’20 from Oldenzaal.

At Pelikaan S, the question is how the flag will hang on Saturday after the winter break. The team of coach Robbie Wentink no longer has relegation pressure, because the board recently announced that the project of the late Wim Bulten will be stopped and that performance football in Oostwold will come to an end after this season.

Since then, the team has won 5-1 against SDV Barneveld, but last week they won 5-0 against Excelsior’31 in Rijssen. The red and whites usually perform better at home than on foreign soil – with the blatant 8-0 home defeat just after the winter break against ROHDA Raalte as an exception.

A lot better than last week

Against mid-range Quick’20 from Oldenzaal things went a lot better than last week. The home team quickly fell behind. After just seven minutes, substitute keeper Erwin Oosterhof had to fish – Stefan van der Lei had become a father on Friday night.
But good old Jos Hooiveld made it 1-1 after half an hour of play.

That was also the final score, because after the break no more goals were scored. “Both teams could have scored after the break. Although we defended well again, they still had some chances. We had a mega opportunity in the absolute final phase through David Goguadze. It actually just had to go in. So I think both teams felt that there could have been a bit more to it.

I think that we are so variable mainly has to do with the breadth of the selection. Last week we were short of thirteen men, now sixteen again,” said coach Wentink after the game.
