The Nashville Predators have hired Pekka Rinne European talent scout and goalkeeper development coach.

Nashville’s new GM Barry Trotz announced the hiring on Monday at a press conference with a sports anchor by Steve Layman by.

Rinne, 40, ended his playing career in the spring of 2021 and represented the Predators throughout his NHL career. He also acted as Trotz’s confidant in Nashville’s goal, when Trotz, who became the club boss, served as the club’s head coach. Trotz served as Nashville’s head coach from 1998 to 2014.

Rinne played in the NHL for a total of 15 seasons and was one of the series’ absolute star goalkeepers. He also won the Vezina Trophy awarded to the best goaltender in his career.

Rinne started in the Predators organization in the 2005–2006 season and played regularly in the NHL in the 2008–2021 seasons.

Last season, he was the goalkeeper coach of the Young Lions.
