Peize gets a sports house. The Noordenveld city council has approved an extra amount of five tons for the new building tonight.
Last week, the future for the sports house looked very different. The parties openly expressed their doubts about making an extra budget available. The subject was removed from the council agenda of June 15, to be discussed again this evening.
This is partly due to the fact that the sports house is becoming an accommodation for the entire village. “Maybe it can even function as a village hall in the future,” suggested Astrid Westra-Wagena (CDA).
Nanda Emmens (VVD) also sees the added value of the sports house. “This has more future prospects than the Peize football association alone. Moreover, we have already spent a lot of money.”
Alderman Alex Wekema agreed. “Already 240,000 euros. I am therefore happy that we have received the green light.”
It took a lot of work before the green light was given. Within a week all questions from the council had to be answered as well as possible. Overtime for, among others, Niek van Leijsen, treasurer of the football association. “It was a hectic week. The council still had questions about the exploitation. But those figures have been endorsed by the accountant and we are confident in that.”
According to Van Leijsen, it is not surprising that the plan is now going ahead. “Actually, you can’t get around this choice, despite the price difference,” he says. Alderman Wekema also thinks it is a good choice. “We are going over the budget here, but you don’t know what it will be like later. Then it can be even more expensive. This is good for Peize.”
