Peize is getting a new neighborhood on the south side. Tonight the Noordenveld city council voted in favor of the ‘Peize-Zuid’ plan.
A maximum of 150 homes can be built in Peize-Zuid. The plan has been worked out for years and can count on opposition for just as long. Residents of the area fear that water collection cannot be properly arranged, so that they will suffer from nuisance in this wet area.
Engineering company Arcadis has a different view, but was unable to convince opponents. The municipality of Noordenveld does not want to offer any further guarantees that any water damage will be compensated.
An idea to provide residents of the area with a rain barrel, as suggested last week by Tiemen Ensink (PvdA/GroenLinks), is being taken up by alderman Jos Darwinkel. Opponents made it audible tonight to find this a bogus solution.
A motion by the PvdA/GroenLinks to investigate whether the Achteromweg and Oostingslaan in Peize could become a 30-kilometre zone was unanimously adopted. Whether that will work is highly questionable, since this idea has already been shot down before.
In the end, only the faction of Lijst Groen Noordenveld voted against the Peize-Zuid zoning plan.
