Pedro Sánchez asks the PP for “sanity and restraint” in the face of protests by “the most nostalgic far-right”

The acting President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezasked this Saturday to PP “sanity and restraint” and to “accept the result of the polls” in the face of protests in recent days by “the most nostalgic extreme right of that cruel Franco dictatorship”, from whom he asked them to distance themselves.

Before the plenary session of Congress of the European Socialist Party (PES) In Malaga, Sánchez lamented that “a past that we thought was over” resonates again “with the complicity of a traditional right already parasitized (…) by the extreme right.”

“I would like to address that right today, to the Popular Party, to ask for sanity and restraint and to tell them that what they must do is accept the result of the polls, the legitimacy of the government that we are going to form soon in Spain, and that they have the necessary courage to say no to the bear hug of the extreme right and to abandon the reactionary path on which they are advancing towards the abyss today,” he said to the applause of the congress audience.

During his speech, Sánchez assured that he will govern four more years “for all Spaniards”, guaranteeing social progress in favor of the social majority, coexistence and the institutional stability of the country. The president recalled that the future Executive will have the support of 179 seats of the 350 deputies that make up the Cortes and that all of them “are legitimate representatives of the popular will.”

In the 23J elections, Sánchez said, citizens “said that Spain can only be governed if the country’s political pluralism and its territorial diversity are recognized.” Thus, compared to a PP that can only agree with the extreme right, the PSOE is the force that has managed to reach agreements with all the other political forces, except with Vox, he added.
