Pediatrician released under conditions in case of voyeurism
The investigation was launched in response to a possible kidnapping attempt. In the end, the investigators came across the pediatrician as a suspect. Jan D. is said to have secretly filmed his patients in his practice.
Not on appeal
The suspect was arrested by the police in June. In addition, house searches were carried out in his home and his doctor’s office in Veldegem, a sub-municipality of Zedelgem. After questioning, the pediatrician was arrested by the investigating judge. Since then, his detention has also been extended three times by the council chamber.
On Friday morning, master Stijn Leliaert insisted on the release of his client. The council chamber ruled that D. may indeed leave the prison under strict conditions after almost four months in pretrial detention.
The prosecutor’s office will not appeal that decision.
