Pedestrian not scooped on A67, man turns out to be unwell

There was no collision between a pedestrian and a truck on the A67 near Geldrop on Sunday night. The police announced this on Monday afternoon after they spoke to the injured pedestrian, a 76-year-old man from Weert, in hospital. According to the police, the man’s story shows that he was not hit by a car, but that he fell after becoming unwell.

That happened after he got stranded with his car along the highway and then walked across the emergency lane to look for help. During that walk, he became unwell and fell, the police said.

The man suffered several injuries to his face and hands as a result of the fall.

Police thought of a collision
After a report that came in around a quarter to two, the police thought that the man had been hit by a car. According to a witness, the man was hit by a truck that did not stop. Because a truck passed at the time of his fall, the witness thought that the man had been hit. “The situation encountered by the police last night did not give any reason to doubt this reading,” said the police on Monday afternoon.

Later at the hospital, the police heard from the victim themselves what had happened. The man’s injuries appear to be minor, according to police. The case is no longer under investigation.
