On Tuesday afternoon, a female pedestrian was hit by a truck at Marsmanplein in Haarlem. She suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. Many people, including several children, witnessed the accident.
The accident occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Rijksstraatweg, near Marsmanplein. A police spokesman confirms that the pedestrian was hit at a crossing, but the exact circumstances are still being investigated at this time.

According to NH News reporter Rob Wtenweerde, there is a lot of police at the scene of the accident. A trauma helicopter is also around the corner from Marsmanplein. The truck driver is said to be very shaken. “I have a camera, but I have not seen anything,” he tells Wtenweerde.
According to the police spokesman, many people witnessed the accident. “What makes the situation even more dire is that many people, especially children, saw the accident happen.” These people can contact victim support or their own GP.
