Within three minutes it was a hit for Zwolle, after the Cambuur defense was sleeping at a deep pass. Daishawn Redan gave the lead and Oussama Darfalou gave the Zwolle people the quick lead. Three minutes later, it was again a hit for the visitors. The pass was again from Redan, after which Mees de Wit remained cool, cut out his opponent and placed the ball in the far corner with the outside of his foot.
The doubled lead did not last long, because after a foul on Issa Kallon, Cambuur was allowed to build from eleven meters. And so there were three goals on the scoreboard within nine minutes. Robin Maulun was the man for the job and he fired cleanly. In the following phase, the pace remained high, but the chances – and therefore the goals – became more scarce. However, it was still 2-2 on the stroke of half-time. Kallon’s shot seemed an easy prey for Kostas Lamprou, but the Greek goalie made a dramatic mistake and thus seamlessly joined the already long list of goalkeeper blunders in the Eredivisie.
But PEC also did what it did before the break after the break. Darfalou indicated and Redan was the goalscorer himself this time after two assists. Zwolle also doubled the margin this time. Bram van Polen ran free with a free kick and tapped in the 2-4. This allowed Cambuur to come back in the game again. Kallon was once again involved in the goal, this time as a principal, and David Sambissa signed for the third Frisian goal of the evening. A few minutes later, Cambuur was again awarded a penalty after a handball from Pelle Clement, but this time the VAR intervened in favor of the Zwolle players.
The people of Leeuwarden were given plenty of time to chase the 4-4, because there were no less than ten minutes of injury time. With several tricks and tricks, Zwolle survived a whole series of corners, among other things.
