Peat doctors would like to locate in Barger-Compascuum church

Practice De Veendokters is interested in the church of Barger-Compascuum. Discussions about this are currently taking place between the parish council and the practice. This is what practice manager Jeanet Scheper said.

The De Veendokters initiative started in 2020 after the general practitioner in Barger-Compascuum retired. She could not find a successor, so Huisartsenzorg Drenthe and insurer Zilveren Kruis came up with the idea for the mini-practice. Right next to the De Collink community center, a ‘tiny house’ of less than 50 square meters was built.

Contacts with patients are mainly digital, the number of staff is limited and the feared financial and administrative burden remains limited. A concept that was expected to attract mainly young doctors. In this way they can experience running a practice in an accessible way. The underlying idea is to ultimately use the concept as a basis for your own practice.

According to Scheper, the concept has now outgrown its scope. There is now a team of 15 employees, which includes three general practitioners, practice assistants, assistants and nurses. “The practice attracts many people who would like to work with us,” says Scheper. “That is why we are now renting additional space in De Collink.”

The back room of the community center was converted last year into a consultation and meeting room. But the jacket is pinching. And so it came to discussions with the Maria Duchess van Drenthe Parish, the owner of the Compascumer church. Due to the declining number of parishioners, the church is currently also looking at how the building can be used for other purposes.
