You can rely on Viagogo – stupid prices and nonsense offers that are intended to cause panic at the end of the day
Advance sales for the two Pearl Jam concerts in Berlin began this Friday (February 23, 2024). On July 2nd and 3rd, Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready will perform at Berlin’s Waldbühne to perform not only their hits but also the songs from their upcoming new album “Dark Matter”.
The tickets for the Berlin location with a capacity of around 22,000 spectators were sold quickly after advance sales began. It was also pretty stressful. In advance, as is usual with more and more tours, you put yourself on a list of interested parties, from which, with luck, you were not passed down to a waiting list below.
But even if you received the email information last Thursday that you could get tickets this Friday, you had to go into the ring on Friday with thousands of other fans on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who is of course rubbing their hands with this huge demand: resellers like Viagogo. Tickets for the two Pearl Jam gigs are offered there from 300 euros and up to 800 euros per person. The regular advance booking price was 174.50 euros – both standing and seated. Ticketmaster does have a “dynamic pricing system”, which means that the tickets, known as “Platinum”, can cost up to 300 euros depending on demand.

Everyone should spend as much money as they want on their favorite band. But: We strongly advise against purchasing via unauthorized platforms such as Viagogo. The reseller is in a legal dispute with bands who not only accuse this secondary market provider of dubious business. In some cases, such as at Ed Sheeran’s concerts, fake tickets have also been sold in the past. Sheeran has therefore announced that she will no longer accept tickets purchased from Viagogo for entry.
Some offers for Pearl Jam on Viagogo read like pure comedy nonsense: “Block: Lower Tier | Series 💎 €889 per ticket / Sold 4 days ago on our website”. “Lower Tier”, which probably means lower tier, does not exist in the Waldbühne. The “💎” is supposed to stand for “diamond” or “platinum”. “Sold 4 days ago on our website” doesn’t work either, as resellers can’t have tickets four days before the official start of pre-sales. Apart from the moon price, which is heading towards 1,000.
We advise: keep your eyes open for ticket resale from Ticketmaster or Eventim, which is official and safe.
