Pearl Jam: Matt Cameron says new album is “in the can”

The Pearl Jam drummer hints at a new album and tour for 2024.

Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron has confirmed that Pearl Jam’s next album is ready.

The record is said to have been created in collaboration with producer Andrew Watt and could be released as early as 2024, the 61-year-old indicated in the conversation. However, this is not yet certain, as he told the “Vinyl Guide Podcast”:

“Now it’s just up to the label to decide when it should come out and when the tour starts and all that stuff.”

Cameron is also hoping for a new tour in 2024. Guitarist Stone Gossard already hinted at “Consequence” what the new Pearl Jam work will sound like. He described the album’s producer as a “die-hard Pearl Jam fan” who has worked with Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John and the Rolling Stones in the past, but has also overseen pop projects by Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. Both genres should also have been incorporated into the new work, says Gossard.

In April 2023, Pearl Jam released their live album GIVE AWAY. This was recorded as part of their “Yield Tour” at Melbourne Park in Australia. Originally planned with 25 tracks, the LP contains a total of 17 songs, including hits like “Given to Fly”.
