Already at the first gig of their current tour, Pearl Jam surprised with their set list – and at the second concert in St. Paul they went one better. For the first time in 13 years, the grunge rockers performed a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Brain Damage”.
“I’m losing my mind,” says frontman Eddie Vedder, laughing into the mic as he plays the intro notes. This is followed by a rousing solo performance of the “Dark Side of the Moon” hit.
It’s not the only song to return to Pearl Jam’s setlist on Saturday. Also “Severed Hand” (2006) and “Got Some” (2009) from Pearl Jam’s own discography made a comeback after a five-year break. They also performed Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” and brought in Deep Sea Diver’s Jessica Dobson for a cover of “Purple Rain”.
