Every week, NH’s Culture Club editors come up with three nightlife tips for the coming week; performances, events or other cultural events in the province that are not to be missed. This week the Dutch electronic pop by the Amsterdam based Puntjudith, art for an affordable price at the Affordable Art fair in Amsterdam and an anniversary fanfare in Medemblik.
Nightlife tip 1: Puntjudith in Pllek Amsterdam
After Eefje de Visser, Froukje and Wende there is now Puntjudith. Judith Rijsenbrij, who was born and raised in Purmerend, but now lives in Amsterdam, is Puntjudith’s brain. Together with musicians, video makers and dancers she makes danceable songs with Dutch lyrics about the chaotic life around her.
“I try to show life in all its colors, and that’s not always happy go lucky. I like peaks and valleys,” Puntjudith says. She writes the lyrics herself, makes the music and the beats. The music is always danceable. “I really like going wild on lyrics in which the world goes to shit or more light lyrics with a melancholic undertone. Contrasts, I like that”.
Puntjudith presents tonight, October 27, her new EP Avalanches in Pllek in Amsterdam-North, starting at 20:00.

Nightlife tip 2: Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam
‘Art is priceless!’ is often called. The Affordable Art Fair has been trying to do something about that image of art for years. In the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam-Noord you will find thousands of works of art under 7,500 euros this weekend. Often not really cheap, but affordable for more people. Such as the artificial ice creams from Lola Luk for around 300 euros each or the golden tomcats from Mickey Philips for 495 euros.

But also textile art, photography and real paintings by, among others, the Ukrainian painter Oleksii Gnievyshev.
The Affordable Art Fair can be seen from 26 to 30 October in the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam North.

Nightlife tip 3: Harmony Cresendo Medemblik 125 years
Catching up with Sinterklaas, the annual commemoration of the dead and the Harddraverij are almost unthinkable without Harmony Crescendo in Medemblik. And this music association has been doing this for 125 years!
On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 October Crescendo will celebrate its anniversary weekend. Crescendo was founded on August 3, 1896 as a marching band with 12 members. Later it became a harmony and the drum band was also added. De Harmonie still plays an important role in the Medemblikker community.
The pieces of music have been chosen by our own musicians from Crescendo’s music library: some ‘older’ songs, for example by The Beatles and Morricone, and very contemporary ones, such as the music from the musical Aladdin.
To celebrate the 125th anniversary, you are most welcome on Saturday, October 29 at 8 p.m. or Sunday, October 30 at 3 p.m. in Het Sint Pieter in Medemblik. Crescendo will give a beautiful concert together with former members and guest players.
