There were forest fires in Europe early this year. The first major fire of the year in Spain broke out in the Valencia area at the end of March when it was tropically warm there. 4,000 hectares of land were destroyed. In France, it hit the Pyrenees for the first time in mid-April. 300 people were then evacuated.
Most fires occur in July and August in southern Europe, when many holidaymakers visit that area.
