More than 9,000 farmers have had it calculated since Monday whether they fall under a scheme for peak loaders. That is what nitrogen minister Christianne van der Wal said on Friday.
On the site of the so-called Aeroius Check farmers can enter their current data, after which a special calculator will start working with it. In this way, farmers find out whether they are peak loaders and whether they can use the ‘approach to peak load’. They can then choose to innovate, move or stop in exchange for compensation.
‘Savagely attractive’ scheme
Minister Van der Wal denies that there is little enthusiasm for a regulation. She speaks to entrepreneurs who do not want to stop, but also who do want to stop. “There are also other possibilities, for example to innovate, to increase sustainability or to relocate the company.”
According to her, the provinces also indicate that there are farmers who want to stop voluntarily and that there are lists of them. The cabinet has devised what it says is a ‘deeply attractive’ scheme that gives farmers who want to stop farming in the short term 120 percent of the value of their farm.
Anonymously
Van der Wal is disappointed that some organizations discourage farmers from using the Aeroius Check because it wouldn’t be anonymous. “It’s a shame that this is being thrown into the world. It’s not true. The data remains only yours, we don’t store it and we don’t do anything with it. This is fighting against the ruins of imaging.”
