The oil for Berlin and Brandenburg is still flowing from Russia to the Schwedt refinery. A task force is now preparing the PCK plant for an oil embargo.
Next week, the working group will meet for the first time in the Berlin Ministry of Economic Affairs. Also present: representatives of the finance, transport and environment ministries as well as Brandenburg’s finance minister Katrin Lange (50) and her business colleague Jörg Steinbach (66, both SPD).
The PCK task force is to plan until the oil stop what Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (52, Greens) promised in Schwedt:
► Replacement deliveries from Rostock and Danzig for the Russian oil
► Refinery operation with 30-40 percent less oil
► Supply of petrol stations in north-east Germany
► Compensation of sales/operating losses
► medium-term conversion of the PCK from oil to biofuel and hydrogen, with billions from Berlin
Brandenburg
It is unclear when Russia’s oil supply will dry up. The EU plans the embargo in six months. But Hungary blocked, demanding 800 million euros in financial aid. Possible way out: First of all, oil deliveries by ship could be banned. The pipelines then remained open for the time being.
