After four years at the club, Benjamin Pavard left FC Bayern in the summer and joined Inter Milan. Now the Frenchman has spoken about the differences between his old and his new employer.
The fact that Benjamin Pavard is looking for a new challenge was already an open secret at FC Bayern in the spring. The defender was no longer satisfied with his role with the German record champions, even though he was placed on the right wing under all coaches.
When Inter Milan went all out and put 30 million euros on the table as a transfer fee for the 27-year-old, the Bayern bosses finally gave the green light for a transfer. Since then, Pavard has appeared in five competitive games for the Nerazzurri.
Around six weeks after his departure from Munich, the defender spoke to the Italian sports newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport” again about the reasons for his move.
Pavard revealed that he went to the previous season’s Champions League finalist “because of the sporting project that allows me to play in the role I prefer.”
At FC Bayern, the 2018 world champion had to play mostly on the outside, but he sees himself in the center. “I’ve been following Serie A for years, also because of the tactics. Italy is the home of defenders, so I had all the prerequisites for this choice,” explained the newcomer.

In his first weeks in Milan, Pavard has already identified some differences between FC Bayern and Inter. “There is a lot more running. I was surprised by the intensity of the training sessions before the game,” emphasized the Frenchman, who added: “We are working a lot on the tactics. The approach is different.”
