Soccer coach Pauliina Miettinen has filed a criminal complaint against the Kuopio Ball Club. Miettinen tells about it in his public Facebook update. Savon Sanomat has received confirmation of the matter from the Eastern Finland Police.

Miettinen coached KuPS to the women’s league champion last season.

Miettinen says on social media that he filed a criminal complaint on the basis that KuPS’s current chairman of the board and then interim CEO Vesa Kauppila would have leaked classified information to the press.

According to Miettinen, only he and Kauppila knew about the confidential matter in question.

– Vesa Kauppila, as a “straightforward” man, also claimed this time that he has not leaked information to the newspaper. Leaking this confidential information is a crime, and that’s why I filed a criminal complaint against KuPS. In the course of five months, I understood that someone else could also file a lawsuit over the operation of KuPS, Miettinen wrote on Facebook.

Vesa Kauppila replied to Savon Sanoma that several people knew about the matter in question.

– And he (Miettinen) knows that, Kauppila told Savon Sanom.

Miettinen also accuses KuPS of trying to influence his player and game style choices.

– It became clear very quickly that the daughter of my new boss was playing on my team, and the father really wanted to interfere with her playing. The rope around me tightened when I heard that this same thing had happened before. I had imagined that this would only happen in junior soccer, where dads and moms were hanging out behind the teams. I had been warned about the new CEO, but I didn’t want to believe the hearsay, Miettinen wrote.

Miettinen also accuses the manager of Savon Sanomi’s sports department of smearing.

The champion coach says that he even changed his will due to the events of last season.

– About a year ago – before I even knew I would ever coach at KuPS – I made a will in which I wanted to donate one of my investment apartments in Kuopio (value approx. €50,000) to the women’s team of Kuopio Palloseura. During the less than six months I spent at KuPS, I realized that I cannot support a club whose morals are completely opposite to my own. Now KuPS has been eliminated from my will.
