Iskelmä music legend Paula Koivuniemi, 75, has received an invitation to next week’s Linna party on Tuesday.

Manager of Koivuniemi Laura Vuorinen confirmed the matter to Iltalehte on Friday morning.

– Paula is happy about the invitation. It is a matter of honor, says Vuorinen.

This year, the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö awarded Koivuniemi the Suomen Leijona Pro Finlandia medal. The badge of honor will be handed over to the singing legend on Independence Day.

Koivuniemi, who has been to Linna’s celebrations several times, last attended the Republic President’s Independence Day celebration reception in 2017, when he arrived at Linna alone.

Koivuniemi said in October Help– magazine, that he no longer intends to take the stage, but has decided to end his career.

– I have gained a lot from music and I can already happily give space to younger people, Koivuniemi told Avu.

The castle’s festivities will now be held for the first time since 2019.

Seiska was the first to report on Koivuniemi’s invitation to Linna’s party.
