John de Mol has an entire army of Talpa owners, but everyone knows that these are mainly puppets. Which of them is by far the most mocked? Paul ‘Baantjer Jr.’ Romer.
It sometimes seems as if Paul Römer has taken a job at John de Mol out of pity. Until a few years ago, he kept saying in the media that the Talpa owner never responds to his text messages, despite the fact that they stood together at the cradle of Big Brother. “One time you are very involved with him and then he moves on to the next.”
“You keep going!”
Paul now belongs to John’s army of bobos again and he is very happy with that. He is regularly full of pride and bravura in the Media Forum of NPO Radio 1 to air all his opinions there. The man who is disgusted by Today Inside said there this week, for example, that he must scream at their summer replacements Marcel & Gijs.
Paul hopes that the men will make TV again next summer on SBS 6 and Lucille Werner pointed this out last night as a guest in Marcel & Gijs: “You are going to continue here, right, Gijs?”
Nothing known about
According to host Gijs Groenteman, however, Paul Römer bleats a bit. “Nothing is known about that yet, Lucille.”
Lucille: “Oh, I read that. That Paul Römer has said that you can continue.”
Gijs: “Yes, Paul Römer says so much. He opens his mouth and starts saying things.”
Marcel van Roosmalen: “He just talks. He really doesn’t know anything about it.”
No respect
It is starting to get painful that the Talpa stars speak about Paul with such disdain and contempt. The men of VI invariably call him ‘Baantjer junior’, referring to his famous father, who played for years in the RTL 4 series Baantjer and has since passed away.
Lucille: “So it isn’t?”
Marcel: “No, we don’t really know anything yet. We are finishing this series. One night it goes well and the next it doesn’t. We’ll get to the end and then we’ll see.”
‘has nothing to say’
A little later, Lucille teases the men again: “Fortunately you are continuing. Paul says: ‘You keep going’, so we’re counting on you to keep going.”
Then Gijs confirms the image that Paul is an owner without power. “That speech by Paul Römer really made an impression on you, didn’t it, Lucille? You know he really has nothing to say with Talpa, right? He is only occasionally sent to the Mediaforum…”
