Paul ran a marathon for the 209th time and this edition was extra special

They crossed the finish line in Eindhoven after more than 3.5 hours of running as a vibrant duo: father Paul and daughter Kyra. They ran the marathon together, but for Paul it was by no means the first time. It was, to be exact, his 209th time.

Kyra and Paul crossed the line in brightly colored outfits. Kyra immediately burst into tears as she finished the marathon. “We did it again,” she says. “I had a hard time at the end.”

In conversation with Omroep Brabant, she therefore thanks the audience. “You just need that, that audience the last kilometers. We also ran together all the time,” says Kyra, who refers to finishing the marathon with her father.

The latter is less special for Paul. He is particularly experienced: the Eindhoven marathon today is his 209th. Kyra ran a marathon once before, in Rotterdam.

“This is also a kind of addiction.”

“This one here in Eindhoven was beautiful. So I can still handle them,” says Paul with a big smile on his face. “I try to run one every month. By training a lot, it works. Well, this is also a kind of addiction. It’s not always good either.”

But now he wants to enjoy it for a while, Paul says. “To walk with my daughter, that’s the most beautiful thing of all.” Kyra can attest to that. “We’re definitely going to plan another one,” she laughs.
