Paul McCartney sang with John Lennon during a performance at Glastonbury. The technology from The Beatles: Get Back director Peter Jackson made it possible. For Julian Lennon, the son of the Beatles singer, it was a shock at first.
Paul McCartney brought his long-dead bandmate on stage for the song “I’ve Got A Feeling” from the 1970 album Let It Be. “I have something very special here,” announced the 80-year-old. Peter Jackson called him and explained the idea. The director would isolate the audio track of Lennon so McCartney could sing along with him.
“This is really special to me,” McCartney explained. “I know it’s only virtual, but honestly – it’s John. We are reunited.”
First shock
In an interview, Julian Lennon revealed that he was initially shocked when he saw the performance. Before his concert in Glastonbury, McCartney had already tried out the technology during his North American tour. But with the duet in Glastonbury, Julian changed his mind. In the meantime, he is “enjoying” the performance.
