In memory of the late Burt Bacharach, Paul McCartney shared a photo on Twitter. It shows the two men and Jimmy Buffett.
He wrote that the composer’s songs “were an inspiration to people like me”. The ex-Beatle met him several times. Bacharach was a “very nice and talented man” who “is missed by all of us”. “His songs were distinctive and different from many others in the ’60s and ’70s,” McCartney added.
When we met not too long ago he reminded me that he had been the musical director for Marlene Dietrich when The Beatles shared the bill with her at the London Palladium. He was a lovely man. Nancy and I send lots of love to his family.

The 80-year-old also shared a story from the ’60s: “When we met not long ago he reminded me that he was Marlene Dietrich’s musical director when the Beatles scored her at the London Palladium shared.” On his behalf and that of his wife, Nancy Shevell, he wished “lots of love” to Bacharach’s family.
Bacharach died on February 8th at the age of 94. Arne Willander wrote an obituary for the great songwriter.
