Paul de Leeuw was asked for Flikken Rotterdam: ‘He said no!’

Paul de Leeuw surprises the makers of Flikken Rotterdam with the comment that he has never been asked for a role in the series. “He has indeed been asked. For a serious guest role.”

It stings Paul de Leeuw, in his own words, that he has never really broken through as an actor. He doesn’t feel taken seriously and has the idea that people just don’t think he’s good enough. “I mean: Flikken Rotterdam is a series about Rotterdam, I’m a Rotterdammer and I haven’t even been asked to be a corpse yet.”

‘Paul is too busy’

Paul’s statements are not entirely correct, says Flikken producer Rolf Koot to this site. “Paul de Leeuw was asked to play a role in an episode of the series in November 2015, during the recording of the first season of Flikken Rotterdam.”

How did Paul react to that? “Through the casting agency he communicated: ‘Unfortunately, he is too busy in the coming period and therefore will not do it’.”

serious role

What had they offered Paul then? Was he indeed supposed to show up as a corpse or was it a scroll of some substance? “It was a serious guest role that was ultimately interpreted in an excellent way by Richard Groenendijk.”

The Flikken producer would like it if Paul would like to cooperate. “Paul de Leeuw is more than welcome, if the opportunity arises, to play a guest role in a next season of Flikken Rotterdam.”

1989

Rolf has already worked with Paul in 1989. The TV star then played his very first role, namely in the film Jan Rap en z’n Maat. “I have only good memories of that.”
